Moscow to Host Third Russia–Africa Summit in October 2026 

Moscow is set to host the third Russia–Africa Summit in late October 2026, bringing African leaders and Russian officials together to discuss trade, investment, security and broader political cooperation.

The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening economic relations and identifying new areas of partnership. Agriculture, energy, mining, infrastructure, education and technology are likely to feature prominently on the agenda.

Russia has sought to deepen its engagement with African countries in recent years, presenting itself as a partner in a changing global order. African governments, meanwhile, are pursuing diversified partnerships to expand investment, improve infrastructure and secure access to technology and markets.

Security cooperation is also expected to attract attention. Discussions may include counter-terrorism, military training and support for countries facing armed conflicts and extremist threats. However, African participants are likely to emphasize the importance of national sovereignty, regional ownership and clear accountability.

Food and energy security could be another major theme. Russia’s role as a major producer of grain, fertiliser and energy resources gives it potential influence in efforts to address supply disruptions and rising costs across Africa.

African countries are expected to seek practical outcomes rather than broad declarations. Priorities could include investment commitments, skills development, technology transfer and support for local processing of natural resources.

The gathering will take place amid intense competition among global powers for partnerships across Africa. The continent’s leaders are increasingly seeking relationships that deliver tangible benefits while preserving strategic independence.
