Flutterwave has partnered with EbonyLife to support the launch of EbonyLife Place London, a new cultural venue dedicated to African and Black creativity, storytelling and entertainment.
Send App by Flutterwave, the company’s remittance platform, is the headline sponsor of the venue’s launch. Flutterwave has also been named EbonyLife’s exclusive payments partner, integrating its payment technology across cinema ticketing, restaurants, retail and other transactions at the venue.
EbonyLife Place London, founded by media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, is located at 208 Wandsworth Road in south-west London. It brings together film, food, fashion, art and music under one roof, creating a space for African and Black stories in the UK.
The venue’s centrepiece is the 160-seat Amani Auditorium, described as the UK’s only cinema dedicated exclusively to African and Black film. Its year-round programme will feature major Nollywood productions alongside films from Britain, the Caribbean, the United States and beyond.
The partnership will support electronic payments across the venue, including cinema, dining and retail services. Send App will also bring a diaspora focus, helping Africans abroad send money to family and loved ones back home.
Flutterwave and EbonyLife plan to use the space for community events, masterclasses and activations, alongside film premieres, founder dinners and industry roundtables. The collaboration builds on Flutterwave’s broader support for African creativity, including partnerships with artists and creative initiatives.
London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan described EbonyLife Place as a new home for Black and African culture and creativity in London, and as a bridge between Lagos and London, two major creative hubs. The venue opened during Black History Month, with its launch weekend featuring film screenings, live music and venue tours.
For African creators and diaspora communities, the venue offers a permanent platform to showcase work and connect with audiences. The partnership also highlights how payment technology can support cultural enterprises by making transactions easier and linking creative spaces to diaspora communities.
EbonyLife Place combines a cinema, restaurant, retail space and gallery, giving visitors multiple ways to engage with African culture. Zuri Retail offers contemporary fashion and design, while the Living Wall Gallery presents art and The Afrobeat Restaurant and Maaji Bar provide dining and drinks.
The collaboration between Flutterwave and EbonyLife reflects a growing effort to build infrastructure for African creativity abroad. By combining cultural programming with payments and diaspora engagement, the partnership aims to make African stories more visible and accessible in London.
