The 16th edition of the African Achievers Awards brought together global leaders, diplomats, policymakers, innovators, and business executives in London to celebrate African excellence, leadership, and international collaboration, reaffirming the awards’ commitment to celebrating impactful leadership and inspiring future generations of Africans making positive contributions across the world.
The programme featured two prestigious events hosted at some of the United Kingdom’s most iconic institutions: the House of Lords at the Palace of Westminster and the Great Room of the Royal Society of Arts. The Awards Reception was hosted by Lord Simon Woolley, Baron Woolley of Woodford, Member of the House of Lords and Principal of Homerton College, University of Cambridge.
The Leaders That Were Honoured Across Sectors
Among those honoured were Commonwealth Secretary-General Rt. Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, former Google executive Vanessa Kingori, Managing Director of Aquarian Consult Aisha Maina, Ghana’s Chief State Attorney Sarah Fafa Kpodo, South Sudanese lawmaker Hon. Michael Ayuen Johnson Chuti, Technical Adviser to the Ghana Revenue Authority Elsie Appau-Klu, and Uganda’s Jane Frances Acilo, alongside other recipients.
Among the notable corporate recognitions was Zotmann International Limited, honoured for its visionary leadership and contribution to business excellence and enterprise development. The class of 2026 was drawn from across government, business, law, civil society, and the diaspora, reflecting the geographic and sectoral breadth.
Why The Program Still Runs
Speaking at the event, Dr. Tonye Rex Idaminabo, FRSA, said the African Achievers Awards remains committed to recognising excellence, leadership, and service while promoting partnerships that support sustainable development across Africa and its global diaspora.
The awards programme convened an Investment and Trade Roundtable at the House of Lords ahead of the evening reception, positioning the event as more than a celebration, and more of a platform for strategic economic dialogue between African leaders and their international partners.
The African Achievers Awards has, over 16 editions, built a roster of honourees that reads as a map of African leadership across generations. Past honourees have included figures from royalty, government, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and global leadership, with the event held at the House of Lords for multiple consecutive editions. That institutional continuity is itself a statement.
