Angola Gains Sovereign Satellite Connectivity as Q-KON and SISTEC Launch Luanda PoP

Q-KON and SISTEC have launched a new Luanda Point-of-Presence (PoP) to deliver secure, sovereign satellite connectivity for Angola’s enterprise and financial sectors. The new PoP enables local data routing and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity, keeping sensitive data within Angola’s borders and reducing reliance on international transit. The service is designed to meet the needs of enterprises, financial institutions and other organisations requiring secure, high-performance connectivity.

The launch builds on a strategic partnership announced earlier this year between Q-KON, a leading African satellite communication solutions provider, and SISTEC, a prominent Angolan IT and telecommunications provider. The collaboration combines Q-KON’s advanced multi-orbit satellite technology with SISTEC’s strong local expertise and national footprint.

Under the partnership, Q-KON supports SISTEC with its multi-orbit Twoobii Smart Satellite Services, which encompass both LEO and Geostationary (GEO) satellite technology. The offering is tailored to meet the demanding requirements of the enterprise market, maritime sector and on-demand connectivity applications.

Securing Data Within Angola’s BordersThe new Luanda PoP is a key step in securing sovereign satellite connectivity for Angola’s enterprise sector. By enabling local data routing, the service ensures that sensitive information remains within the country, addressing concerns around data sovereignty and regulatory compliance.

For Angola’s financial and enterprise sectors, the service offers a more secure and reliable alternative to traditional connectivity options. The ability to route data locally while leveraging LEO satellite technology provides a combination of performance, resilience and data control.

The launch reflects a broader effort to bridge the digital gap in Angola and across the continent. By combining advanced satellite technology with local expertise, Q-KON and SISTEC aim to deliver resilient, high-performance connectivity solutions that support economic growth and digital transformation.

For Angolan businesses and institutions, the new service opens up opportunities to access secure, high-speed connectivity regardless of location. The challenge now is to scale the service and ensure it reaches the organisations and communities that need it most.
