Afrobeats stars Davido and Rema will headline the 2027 edition of Afro Nation Portugal, joined by Congolese rumba icon Fally Ipupa, as the festival unveils the first wave of artists for next year’s event on the Algarve coast.
Organisers announced the initial line-up on 24 September 2026, confirming that the three African headliners will lead the LIT Stage at the world’s largest Afrobeats and Amapiano festival, which returns to Praia da Rocha in Portimão from the 9th to the 11th of June 2027.
Davido, Rema and Fally Ipupa represent three distinct pillars of contemporary African music: Nigeria’s mainstream Afrobeats power, its new-generation global breakout act, and Central Africa’s rumba and soukous tradition. Their joint billing signals Afro Nation’s intent to broaden its African line-up beyond West African Afrobeats while maintaining the genre at the core of the festival.
Alongside the headliners, the first announcement includes Tanzanian Bongo Flava star Rayvanny, Jamaican dancehall acts Shenseea and Valiant, and British-Nigerian singer-songwriter Ayra Starr, among others. The mix underscores the festival’s positioning as a pan-African and diaspora showcase, blending Afrobeats, Amapiano, dancehall, R&B and hip hop across multiple stages.
The 2027 line-up follows a record-breaking 2026 edition, which ran from the 3rd to 5th July and featured headliners Burna Boy, Wizkid, Asake and Tyla, plus international guests Gunna and Kehlani. That year’s festival drew large crowds to the golden sands of Praia da Rocha, with performances spread across the LIT Stage, Piano People Stage and Afrotonic Stage.
By revealing the first names for 2027 in late September, Afro Nation is giving fans an early view of the festival’s direction while leaving room for additional waves of artists in the coming months. Organisers have described the 2027 programme as another “major international line-up” set to land on the Algarve, building on the event’s reputation as a key stop on the global African music calendar.
With Davido, Rema and Fally Ipupa confirmed as headliners, the 2027 edition is likely to lean heavily into contemporary African sounds while maintaining space for Amapiano, dancehall and crossover acts. The inclusion of Rayvanny points to stronger East African representation, while Shenseea and Valiant reinforce the festival’s long-standing ties to Caribbean dancehall.
More artists are expected to be added in subsequent announcements, with full details on stage allocations, supporting acts and ticketing to follow as the June 2027 dates approach. For now, the first wave sets a clear tone: Afro Nation Portugal 2027 will again position African stars at the centre of one of Europe’s biggest beach festivals.
